The leaders of Afghanistan met in Bonn, Germany for United Nations-sponsored talks to create an interim administration for their war-ravaged country, whilst the final battles against the Taliban continued in the Tora Bora mountains and around Kandahar. Hamid Karzai, a Pashtun tribal chief was chosen to be the head of the interim administration, in which the Northern Alliance will hold 17 of 29 positions.
