The big lie of global inequality

"I think we have to reaffirm unambiguously that open markets and rules-based trade are the best engine we know of to lift living standards, reduce environmental destruction and build shared prosperity." Bill Clinton went to the World Economic Forum in Davos to make this declaration. The great pity is that the US president has done so little since completion of the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations to promote the cause of liberalisation....more
